If you are traveling through Thailand and your tourist visa (or your visa exemption) is about to expire, you can extend it without leaving the country. Depending on where you are, there are various immigration bureaus spread across the country that you could visit in order to complete this procedure.
If you are in Koh Tao, Koh Phangan or Koh Samui, the nearest office is in the latter, and you will not need to go to Bangkok or another major city. We explain step by step how to extend your Thai visa in Koh Samui so that you do not have to go around in circles and can avoid all the dizziness…
If you are on the islands of Koh Tao or Koh Phangan, you can take a ferry of the Lomprayah company that will take you directly to the dock of Nathon in Koh Samui, at a 30-minute walk (or 5 by motorbike) from the immigration bureau.
If you travel with the company Seatrans Discovery, which was our case, the ferry stops at the dock of Bang Rak, in the north of the island, so you will have to rent a motorbike next to it for about 200 THB.
Since you must carry your passport with you, you can leave your ID and a deposit (1000 THB in our case) until you return the bike. Remember that the price of the trip from Koh Tao to Koh Samui cost us 1200 THB per person.
It is located a couple of kilometers south of the dock of Nathon, but we leave you a photo and a map so you can find it easily.
