Are you planning a trip to Mexico? If you want to stay always connected to the internet, take note because we’re going to explain how to get a Mexico eSIM with unlimited data and a discount. Interested?
In the past, it was common to get a SIM card for Mexico upon arrival, but the advent of eSIMs has changed that trend.
While you can connect to Wi-Fi networks in hotels and restaurants in Mexico, you’ll likely end up getting an eSIM or, alternatively, a local SIM card. Don’t worry; we’ll walk you through everything step by step. Let’s get started!
Until recently, we always recommended using a local SIM card in your destination country, as it was more economical than physical SIM cards purchased from certain websites. However, the Holafly Mexico eSIM has now become very appealing.
The key reason for this shift is that eSIMs now offer unlimited data, making it a better option with a more justified price.
With the Mexico eSIM, you don’t need a physical SIM card to access the internet. Instead, you install a virtual SIM on your phone for unlimited internet access. Simply purchase the eSIM, configure your phone automatically, and as soon as you arrive at your destination, your smartphone will connect to the internet.
You can now get a Holafly discount code in your Mexico eSIM with unlimited data at a reduced price. The link above provides general information about Holafly, but the button here will take you directly to the discount for your eSIM purchase.
NOTE: If for any reason the discount doesn’t apply automatically (which is very rare), you can use this discount code: CONMOCHILA.
In Mexico, four companies operate: Telcel, Movistar, AT&T Unidos Mexico, and Red Compartida. Most users purchase prepaid cards, with Amigo (Telcel’s prepaid brand) offering the best coverage and speed, followed by AT&T.
Movistar used to hold the second spot, now taken by AT&T. However, with a smaller market share, Movistar has less network congestion.
Telcel (Amigo) SIM cards can be purchased at Telcel dealers and local sales points found almost everywhere in the country. There are three types of Amigo SIMs: Amigo Sin Límite for $149 MXN, Amigo Por Segundo for $79, and Amigo Express for $29.
The starter package, known as a prepaid chip, can be bought at any Movistar México, at most airports, or many other stores like 7-Eleven and Walmart. The prepaid SIM card costs $60 MXN.
AT&T SIM cards can be purchased at many stores like Elektra, Coppel, Famsa, Walmart, and Bodega Aurrera.
