Are you preparing for your big trip to Singapore? If you like to stay constantly connected to the internet, take note because we’re going to explain how to get a SIM card with internet access in Singapore and stay online 24/7.
In Singapore, you’ll find Wi-Fi in many places, such as restaurants and hotels, but nowadays, everyone is accustomed to being continuously connected. You’ll appreciate this when you’re searching for restaurants on the go or uploading photos to Instagram from one of the many temples in this vibrant city-state.
With the cost of data plans, you’ll likely end up choosing either a local SIM card or the new Holafly Singapore eSIM with unlimited data. We’ll tell you everything you need to know. Let’s go!
Until recently, we always recommended using a local SIM card in your destination country, as it was more economical than physical SIM cards available on certain websites. However, today the eSIM is a very attractive option.
The key reason for this shift is that eSIMs now offer unlimited data (though not yet available in all destinations), making this option much more attractive and a more justified price.
With the Singapore eSIM, you don’t need a physical SIM card for internet access; instead, you install a virtual SIM on your phone for unlimited internet. You make the purchase, configure your phone automatically, and as soon as you arrive at your destination, your smartphone will connect to the internet.
You can now get a Holafly discount for your international Singapore eSIM with unlimited data. The link above provides all the general information about Holafly, but the button below will take you directly to the discount for your Holafly Singapore eSIM purchase.
NOTE: If, for any reason, the discount doesn’t apply automatically (which is very rare), you can use this discount code: CONMOCHILA
If unlimited data is not your thing for whatever reason (because you are going to stay for a short time or simply because you don’t need it), you have a cheaper option that starts at $3.99 for 1GB of data for 7 days. Take a look at the rates of Saily, our other trusted company, to see what suits you best.
And, of course, you get a discount for coming from conmochila. Remember to use the coupon CONMOCHILA5 before checkout.
In Singapore, there are four main telecom companies: Singtel Mobile, StarHub, M1, and Simba (which only offers 4G). The coverage and speed of the first three companies are excellent, effectively covering the entire country.
We previously chose the StarHub plan for 5 days with 2GB of data, costing 18 SGD. Over time, the amount of GB has increased, as well as the number of days offered by all companies.
In Singapore you must show your original passport (a photocopy is not accepted) to purchase a SIM card for registration and you are only allowed to have a maximum of three active SIM cards registered in your name at any one time.
The easiest place to buy a SIM card is at the airport, although you might not find the best offers there. For better deals, look for the official stores of the different companies. A good tip is to check out Little India, where most of the telecom stores are located.
