The monsoon rainy season progresses in Thailand during August, causing flooding in the streets of cities like Bangkok. Peak rainfall occurs in the north and northeast of the country, but at other places the hot and humid weather will persist for another month or two, so it’s not such a bad time to travel to Thailand.
The wettest area during this month is Trat province, in the east. Precipitation also increases on the southern coasts.
With an average temperature of 28°C and average humidity levels of 82%, Thailand is very hot in August, with weather conditions aggravated by the fact that this is the month with the highest rainfall in many regions.
Bangkok expects around 180mm of rain, with a heavy shower or two every other day, while Phuket on the south-west coast experiences an average of more than 260mm. East, south, north, west – there are few places where you can stay dry in Thailand during August.
