June is a wet month, with rainy weather from the southwest monsoon setting in, and there is a slight drop in temperature due to thunderstorms during the afternoons and evenings. Overall, the country remains very warm and damp, but the sun shines most days when it is not raining.
The rain turns the countryside green, and the rushing rivers can be spectacular if you’re traveling to Thailand at this time, but beware of flash floods and leeches.
After a brisk start in May with the onset of the rainy season, Thailand’s rainfall chart for June is stabilizing somewhat, particularly in the central region of the country. This is, however, a temporary lull before it starts to rain again as the southwest monsoon season progresses.
The average rainfall for Thailand in June is 180mm; around a third of the days will experience some rain, usually in the form of heavy showers in the late afternoon or overnight.
