Vegetarian Restaurants in Bangkok by Area

As we have already mentioned on some occasions, being vegan or vegetarian in Thailand is not an obstacle to traveling around the country, because, in addition to having a very rich gastronomy in which vegetables and soy derivatives are used a lot, the “jei” culture fills the streets with vegan restaurants (you have more information about these restaurants in the article that I linked at the beginning).

Bangkok is a city for both visitors and passers-by, so it’s very likely that you’ll spend a few nights in the capital. If you’re vegan/vegetarian, you’ll be happy to know that restaurants free of animal ingredients can be found in almost every area.

Below we’ve named a few that we’ve tried, although there aren’t as many as the vegetarian restaurants in Chiang Mai.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Bangkok

Khao San Area

You could say that Khaosan is a good transitional place between the West and the East. You will certainly not miss the international atmosphere, the hustle and bustle, the lights, the bars and the shops.

You may miss the Thai residents, who left this area in the 1970s in search of peace when the massive influx of travelers came.

Ethos Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurant

Our favorite by far is this little restaurant tucked away in a back street at the end of the chaotic Khao San. At Ethos the menu is extensive, the dishes very generous, and the flavor unbeatable.

Run by Burmese, their dishes are varied and include both Thai food and typical Western treats. My mother, who is not a vegetarian, was delighted with this restaurant. Plus point: it has wine 😉 Located in Khao San.

Mango Vegetarian & Vegan

Somewhat in the shadow of the previous one, as its place is not as pretty or as welcoming as the Ethos, but Mango makes up for it with exquisite dishes and pleasant service. Located in Khao San, on a Perpendicular Street.

Silom Area

This is known as Bangkok’s financial district, so here you will find an area full of skyscrapers and offices. There are also many shopping malls, restaurants and bars. It is also characterized by being very well connected thanks to the metro and the Skytrain.

Suananda Vegetarian Garden

Suananda‘s menu is extensive and varied, and among its dishes you can find both Thai food and food from other countries, especially Indian, Burmese and Israeli.

All dishes are vegetarian, but they have many with vegan options, some gluten-free and, as written on the menu, they use as many organic ingredients as possible, seasonal fruits and vegetables. Located in Silom, near the Burmese Embassy.

Bonita Café and Social Club

Bonita Café and Social Club is a rather informal but authentic place, with a first floor decorated with antique furniture and sports motifs, where they even sell trainers.

On the menu there are soups, pizzas, burgers, pasta, sushi and even some beers other than the classic Singha, Leo or Chang, which is appreciated from time to time.

Sinsamut Village Area

Rasayana Retreat, Raw Food Cafe

In Sanskrit, it means “rejuvenation”, but in Bangkok, Rasayana Retreat is a raw vegan restaurant and a retreat center that offers detox and relaxation programs.

The food here is not processed (fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds that have not been heated above 42ºC), and the cooks use mostly organic ingredients. Even if you are not a raw vegan, we recommend trying their dishes, we were very surprised. Located in Sinsamut Village, near BTS Phrom Phong stop.

Lumphini Park Area

Full of open spaces, trees and several playgrounds, Lumphini Park contains an artificial lake, famous for housing a lot of “monitor lizards” (or “varanos” in Spanish), where you can rent boats and go for a ride, which is not bad at all to disconnect from the stress of the capital of Thailand.

Ariya Organic Place

Honestly, we weren’t too thrilled with this place. Maybe we were fed up with raw food after eating at Rasayana, or maybe it was the overuse of spices, I don’t know.

However, Ariya Organic Place has a little shop that I loved with organic products, including toothpaste and coconut oil. If you’re in the area, it might be a good option for you. Located in Lumphini Park.
