However, it would be a mistake to overlook this coastal region of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/en\/thailand-travel-guide\/\">Thailand<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Krabi boasts some of the most impressive rock formations in the entire country, and it&#8217;s also a great location for climbing. Additionally, it is home to a unique hippie community. Moreover, it is the ideal location to explore the most spectacular beaches of the Andaman Sea. <strong>If you want to go on tours, it is a perfect base<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading margin-top-0\" id=\"h-which-area-of-krabi-to-choose-to-stay-in\">Which Area of Krabi to Choose to Stay In<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The place you choose to stay will significantly influence your experience in Krabi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading margin-top-0\" id=\"h-aonang-beach\">Aonang Beach<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Aonang Beach is the central beach area on the peninsula and the main tourist attraction. It lacks international brands, featuring only local shops, eco-friendly cafes, and a distinctly hippie atmosphere. It is popular with adventurous couples and backpackers but has limited amenities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To reach Railay, you must take a boat<\/strong>, as it is separated from the mainland by water. <strong>This isolation has helped preserve its natural beauty<\/strong>. It is a small and beautiful cove with a few budget accommodations. It has a slightly more youthful nightlife than Railay and can be reached via a 15-minute walk along a couple of paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have more time, you might choose to move between these locations, but if you only have a couple of nights, we prefer the natural atmosphere of Railay. In any case, Aonang is more convenient for reaching different places on the peninsula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-when-to-go-to-krabi\">When to Go to Krabi<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As with other <strong>Andaman Sea<\/strong> destinations such as Phuket, the best time to visit Krabi is during the European winter. However, we just returned from there in June, and the trip was equally enjoyable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>High Season (Mid-November to February):<\/strong> During these months, you\u2019ll experience ideal weather with mild temperatures around 25\u00b0C and sunny days with blue skies. However, prices will be higher, and the area will be crowded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mid-Season (March and April):<\/strong> These are the hottest months, with intense sun. Typically, rain showers last about an hour, but it usually doesn\u2019t rain all the time. Despite this, prices are much lower, and you can still enjoy the beach since it doesn\u2019t rain constantly. There are inexpensive domestic flights from Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and other cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list bot-new\">\n<li class=\"bot-new-avion\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/12go.asia\/avia\/bangkok\/krabi\/?z=14994&amp;sub_id=pag-EN-krabi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Plane from Bangkok<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"bot-new-avion\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/12go.asia\/avia\/chiang-mai\/krabi\/?z=14994&amp;sub_id=pag-EN-krabi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Plane from Chiang Mai<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The airport is located in Krabi city, far from the beach. However, for about 150 baht (less than four euros), you can take a minibus to your hotel in <strong>Aonang<\/strong> or to the port for access to <strong>Railay<\/strong> or <strong>Tonsai<\/strong>. These beaches require a ten-minute, 100-baht public boat ride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-by-bus\">By Bus<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also reach Krabi by bus from Bangkok. It is also where the main services and hospitals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aonang is the ideal location for a day trip and sightseeing. Here are our recommendations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-aonang-beach-0\">Aonang Beach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aonang Beach<\/strong> is very touristy and is surrounded by businesses rather than natural beauty. However, it is ideal for jogging or walking along the seafront, thanks to a large promenade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At night, there are markets, plenty of bars, and a lively atmosphere, with beautiful sunsets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-aonang-south-beach\">Aonang South Beach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Though considered part of <strong>Aonang<\/strong> Beach, <strong>South Beach<\/strong> is less crowded and more scenic, featuring beautiful rock formations. It is the most picturesque spot in this part of the peninsula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To find it, you can head to <strong>The Last Fisherman<\/strong>, the main bar in the area, which is perfect for a sunset drink.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail\"><img style=\"aspect-ratio: 700\/467\" height=\"467\" width=\"700\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/atardecer-aonang-700x467.jpg\" alt=\"Sunset on the beach southeast of Aonang.\" class=\"wp-image-1036969\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Sunset on the beach southeast of Aonang.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-emerald-pool-and-the-hot-springs\">The Emerald Pool and the Hot Springs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Emerald Pool<\/strong> is a beautiful pool set amidst lush forest. It is easily accessible from Aonang by public transport, though it can be quite crowded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even more beautiful are the nearby&nbsp;<strong><a class=\"event-alojamientos\" href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/th\/wareerak-hot-spring-retreat.es.html?aid=372777&amp;label=pag-krabi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Wareerak Hot Springs<\/a><\/strong>, which can be reached in about an hour from Aonang.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail\"><img style=\"aspect-ratio: 700\/467\" height=\"467\" width=\"700\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/lago-esmeralda-700x467.jpg\" alt=\"A waterfall next to the Emerald Lake\" class=\"wp-image-1036970\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A waterfall next to the Emerald Lake<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-tiger-cave-temple\">The Tiger Cave Temple<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t worry, there are no tigers in the area. This temple, located atop a mountain, is majestic primarily for the stunning views it offers upon arrival. The journey to the top is part of the fun, as it involves climbing more than 1,200 steps. The temple is located less than half an hour from <strong>Aonang Beach<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-imagen-post-H\"><img style=\"aspect-ratio: 700\/466\" height=\"466\" width=\"700\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/cueva-tigres-krabi-700x466.jpg\" alt=\"The Spectacular Location of the Temple\" class=\"wp-image-1037012\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Spectacular Location of the Temple<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re looking for a recommendation, consider <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gyg.me\/xqjYKUlr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">visiting the Emerald Lake and the Tiger Cave Temple on a day<\/a><\/strong> when you want a break from the beaches. You can easily combine both visits in one morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most convenient option for getting around is to rent a motorbike if you have experience and a license. A rental typically costs between five and six euros per day. Alternatively, there are tours available that include the Tiger Temple, the Emerald Pool, and the hot springs if you prefer to see it all in one full day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rest of your time in <strong>Aonang<\/strong> is ideal for island hopping, including visits to <strong>Railay Bay<\/strong> and <strong>Tonsai Beach<\/strong>. We will discuss the main attractions and tours you can take from Aonang later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-railay-bay-and-tonsai-beach\">Railay Bay and Tonsai Beach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Railay<\/strong> is very close to Aonang but cannot be reached by land due to the huge rock formations in the bay, which make boat travel the only feasible option. This seclusion adds to its charm.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail\"><img style=\"aspect-ratio: 700\/467\" height=\"467\" width=\"700\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/railay-puesta-sol-700x467.jpg\" alt=\"Railay Beach Sunset\" class=\"wp-image-1036971\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Railay Beach Sunset<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Railay maintains a laid-back, hippie-town vibe where anything goes. Marijuana use has always been prevalent here, and now that it is legal throughout the country, magic mushrooms can also be found. However, you often have to wait for a table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-get-around-krabi\">How to Get Around Krabi<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The advantage of getting around Krabi without renting a vehicle is that public transport has set prices. You can easily buy a van or boat ride to your destination from any tourist spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, a ride to the airport from Aonang is always 150 baht, and a ride to Railay or Tonsai is 100 baht. In these beach locations, you can only get around on foot, but Aonang is larger and has taxis available. The easiest option is to download a transport app to hire a motorbike or taxi. The most commonly used apps are Grab and InDrive, with InDrive being the cheaper option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have an international driving license, you can rent a scooter for about 200-250 baht per day in Aonang to visit the Emerald Lake or the city center, where there is a night market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember to have medical insurance that covers accidents, and note that a regular driving license is not valid for motorcycles. A motorcycle license is mandatory.
