What\u2019s more, apps like Maps.me and KakaoMap handle everything you\u2019ll need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re already convinced, <strong>jot down autumn and spring as the most pleasant seasons to visit<\/strong>. Palaces<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If there\u2019s one thing you can\u2019t skip in Seoul, it\u2019s the palaces of the Joseon Dynasty. You don\u2019t need to see them all, but you do need to visit at least the most notable ones. Set aside several hours for this, as many of these palace complexes feature expansive gardens that are perfect for a long, peaceful stroll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know the names are a bit hard to pronounce, but here are the five main palaces:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gyeongbokgung Royal Palace<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Arguably the most important palace\u2014despite having spent 300 years in ruins\u2014as it was built under the orders of the dynasty&#8217;s founder, King Taejo. A hanok is a traditional Korean house built using natural materials like wood, paper, and stone, designed to harmonize with nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These villages are full of hanoks that have retained their original look, giving visitors a window into Korean history, daily life, and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bukchon Hanok Village<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>When you close your eyes and imagine South Korea, chances are you\u2019re picturing a street in <strong>Bukchon<\/strong>. Markets<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s no better place than a local market to get a feel for a country\u2019s people, personality, and cuisine. It\u2019s a free, immersive way to experience a culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among those in Seoul, we highlight the old and traditional <strong>Namdaemun Market<\/strong>, and the enormous <strong>Dongdaemun Market<\/strong>, home to thousands of shops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gwangjang Market<\/strong> is especially authentic, though it might be unsettling for more sensitive vegetarians\u2014its fish tanks are filled with small octopuses that, according to tradition, are eaten alive. Viewpoints<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several viewpoints throughout Seoul, in addition to those you\u2019ll discover while walking along the city walls. Here are three to note:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Seoul Tower<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>From this communications tower, nearly 240 meters high and located in Namsan Park, you can enjoy panoramic views of Seoul in all directions.
