Instead, they will refer to the town of <strong>Khao Yai<\/strong>, about two and a half hours from Bangkok by road. The first is in the style of the more urban Thais, and especially from <strong>Bangkok<\/strong>, who go to this town to relax in enormous resorts and natural esplanades with some of the best views in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/LALA-mukha.jpg\" alt=\"The surroundings of Khao Yai have swimming pools in exceptional natural environments.\" class=\"wp-image-1034890\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The surroundings of Khao Yai have swimming pools in exceptional natural environments.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>other way to experience Khao Yai <\/strong>is to venture into its vast natural park and see elephants, waterfalls and the jungle. This is the most common thing among adventurous Thais and also some foreigners, although this national park is not very popular among international tourists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend you <strong>enjoy Khao Yai<\/strong> in both ways, as both the exterior of the national park and its interior are a great experience for those in Bangkok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-visit-khao-yai-in-thailand\">Why Visit Khao Yai in Thailand?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many foreigners choose to ignore <strong>Khao Yai<\/strong> with the idea that there are better mountains in Thailand, but that is very relative. The truth is that Khao Yai is <strong>off the common tourist track<\/strong>, and that gives a false sense of lesser importance. But that is because getting to it is somewhat more difficult, since there is no public transportation in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/vinas-khao-yai.jpg\" alt=\"Everything is very well cared for outside the national park.\" class=\"wp-image-1034891\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Everything is very well cared for outside the national park.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This makes it an ideal place for Thais who have a car, as there are not many options to get there. What&#8217;s more, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.discovercars.com\/?a_aid=conmochila\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">renting a car in Bangkok<\/a><\/strong> &nbsp;can be a very good idea to go to what was the <strong>first national park in the country<\/strong> to be created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The beauty of this place is impressive in any case. In addition, the <strong>national park<\/strong> is not very visited and offers a very authentic experience. The surroundings are also exceptional, with vineyards and large natural gardens. Camping is also possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-get-to-khao-yai\">How to Get to Khao Yai?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This <strong>large mountain<\/strong> is located just as you enter the gateway to the Isaan region in the northeast. In fact, just before you get there, you will cross the great gate of the province, a monument in honor of the most populated part of the country. To travel to this natural area, the ideal way to do so is to leave from Bangkok.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/khao-yai.jpg\" alt=\"A mountain resort in Khao Yai\" class=\"wp-image-1034892\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A mountain resort in Khao Yai<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you don&#8217;t have a car (which is common for most travelers), the best option is to go to the Mo Chit bus station and buy a ticket to the town of <strong>Pak Chong<\/strong>. It will cost around 100 baht and buses leave every hour. The journey takes a couple of hours. From there, it&#8217;s best to rent a motorbike for around 250 baht a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list bot-new\">\n<li class=\"bot-new-minivan\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/12go.asia\/es\/travel\/bangkok\/pak-chong\/?z=14994&amp;sub_id=EN-khao-yai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Bus from Bangkok to Pak Chong<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you don&#8217;t have all the time in the world, you can take a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gyg.me\/z6EEr38h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">private excursion from Bangkok<\/a><\/strong> to visit the park in one day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-places-of-interest-around-khao-yai\">Places of Interest Around Khao Yai <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>national park<\/strong> is the biggest tourist attraction in <strong>Khao Yai<\/strong>, but most Thais who visit this part of the country don&#8217;t even go inside. That&#8217;s because there&#8217;s so much to do in the surrounding area, especially if you&#8217;re looking for a few days of relaxation.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/vino-khao-yai.jpg\" alt=\"Vineyards Khao Yai\" class=\"wp-image-1034893\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The vineyards of Granmonte<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are no bars to stay up late in the area around <strong>Khao Yai<\/strong>, and no shopping malls. It&#8217;s all small streets full of greenery, with lots of cafes and resorts. What can you do in a day or two around the national park?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit the<strong> vineyards of Granmonte or PB Valley<\/strong>. The only wine produced with sufficient quality in Thailand is made in Khao Yai. You can visit the vineyards and even do wine tastings, it is a nice experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a coffee in a privileged place with a view. In <strong>Khao Yai<\/strong> there are many options to have coffee in front of nature, places that social media fans love. We recommend <strong>Birder&#8217;s Lodge Cafe<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience luxury camping. While camping is possible within the national park, for city dwellers who want to enjoy the luxury of tents, the area around Khao Yai offers plenty of options. Take <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/th\/lala-mukha-tented-resort-khao-yai.en-us.html?aid=372777&amp;label=post-EN-khao-yai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Lala Mukha<\/a><\/strong>, for example, which has a camping area full of air-conditioned tents. They also do barbecues on the grounds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dining in exceptional places. <strong>Khao Yai<\/strong> is full of places that emulate cities in Italy, Germany or England, although everything is very cardboard. However, there are some enormous restaurants built as if they were castles. The most spectacular is <strong>Midwinter<\/strong>, which is worth a visit and also a day&#8217;s dinner there.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to all this, getting lost by motorbike in the different places near the natural park is a beautiful experience in Khao Yai. It is certainly a great place for a romantic getaway or if you opt for a few days of relaxation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-khao-yai-national-park\">Khao Yai National Park<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let&#8217;s start with perhaps the only bad news: to enter the national park you have to pay 500 baht, while Thais pay only 10% of that amount. Beyond that, we find ourselves in an <strong>amazing jungle area<\/strong> where we can spend the night, go on trails or even see wild animals in rivers and waterfalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can bring your motorbike into the national park, and we highly recommend that you do so, unless you decide to book a private tour. The more adventurous alternative is hitchhiking: it is very common within the park. For sleeping, you will find numerous camping options as well as natural bungalows.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/parque-khao-yai.jpg\" alt=\"Khao Yai National Park in Thailand\" class=\"wp-image-1034894\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is <strong>no need to plan any routes in Khao Yai National Park before you arrive<\/strong>, as you will be given a brochure on entry with the seven trails within the park. The most popular ones are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A short one-kilometer trail, especially for children. It is a suggested learning activity to familiarize them with the terrain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three short walks through the jungle, three kilometers long. These are the most accessible for those who don&#8217;t want to tire themselves out too much, but they are good and you will see some wild animals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A nine-hour route through the jungle. It is fairly well signposted, so there are no problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A three-hour excursion. This is considered the best experience, as you can see a good part of the national park. It is mandatory to have transportation that will take you back to the start of the route.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It must be said that this is the jungle of Southeast Asia, so <strong>mountain clothing is highly recommended<\/strong>, or, at the very least, trousers and footwear appropriate for each of the routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, there are leeches if you go during the rainy season, from June to October. Keep this in mind.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, the best time to visit Khao Yai, both the park and its surroundings, is during the dry season from November to February.
