However, despite some modern buildings and recent constructions that seem out of place, the atmosphere remains peaceful- for now\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cameron-highlands\">Cameron Highlands<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:25%\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-senff-sticky-block\" data-topspace=\"60\" data-cfa=\"true\" data-minwidth=\"600\" data-maxwidth=\"99999\" data-pushup=\"#final-footer\" data-zindex=\"1\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-rank-math-toc-block\" id=\"rank-math-toc\"><nav><ul><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#h-tanah-rata\">Tanah Rata<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#h-trekking-in-cameron-highlands\">Trekking in Cameron Highlands<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#h-cameron-highlands-tea-plantations\">Cameron Highlands Tea Plantations<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#h-organized-excursions\">Organized Excursions<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#h-how-to-get-to-cameron-highlands\">How to Get to Cameron Highlands<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#h-practical-information\">Practical Information<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#h-locations\">Locations<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#h-remember\">Remember<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:75%\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tanah-rata\">Tanah Rata<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although during our travels through India and Sri Lanka we saw tea plantations on several occasions (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/en\/darjeeling-travel-guide\/\">Darjeeling<\/a>, Ooty and Munnar, Nuwara Eliya&#8230;<\/strong>) and we had no particular interest in seeing the same landscapes again, the idea of spending a few days in slightly cooler temperatures appealed to us, and so we decided to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We decided to stay in <strong>Tanah Rata<\/strong>, a small town where the bus station, most of the restaurants, and a few massage places were all found in the main street. It is not unusual to go out for a walk and see the street full of locals and tourists when they are not out on one of the many excursions available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And in the Cameron Highlands one can stay entertained for many days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-trekking-in-cameron-highlands\">Trekking in Cameron Highlands<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first thing you can do once you arrive in this area of \u200b\u200bMalaysia is to go out and explore the jungle around Tanah Rata. There are many hiking routes in Cameron Highlands and the owners of the guesthouses, or the walls of the guesthouses themselves filled with murals, will make sure you learn about them and will describe in detail which paths to follow so you don&#8217;t get lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There <strong>are about 11 routes<\/strong> in total and we finally chose <strong>number 10<\/strong>. I don&#8217;t remember exactly why, but knowing us, I&#8217;m sure someone told us that it wasn&#8217;t excessively complicated or long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We left mid-morning after breakfast and it wasn&#8217;t too difficult to find the start of the trail following the directions we had been given beforehand. We were grateful to be able to stretch our legs, to have enjoyed the landscape and, above all, to not have died of heat in the attempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cameron-highlands-tea-plantations\">Cameron Highlands Tea Plantations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next day you can choose to see some of the famous <strong>tea plantations of Cameron Highlands<\/strong> and from among the various sites we chose the popular <strong>BOH<\/strong>, north of Tanah Ratah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To get there you can do it on your own and as always that means going by public transport, in this case the bus (or there is always the option of hitchhiking), or you can take a taxi or on one of the tours that are organized in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image size-thumbnail wp-image-32058\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"933\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/03\/CAMERON-HIGHLANDS-10.jpg\" alt=\"Waiting for the bus\" class=\"wp-image-9055\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/03\/CAMERON-HIGHLANDS-10.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/www.conmochila.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/03\/CAMERON-HIGHLANDS-10-700x467.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Waiting for the bus<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the bus dropped us off on the main road we turned onto a smaller road and suddenly found ourselves in the middle of the tea plantations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stretch to the factory was a bit long, if I remember correctly it was about three kilometres, but we preferred to walk rather than hitchhike because that way we could see the landscape in peace. To our surprise the first car we waved at stopped and very kindly gave us a ride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was a pity that we didn&#8217;t go with them to Tanah Rata, thinking that the bus would pass quite frequently.
